Consumer Price Index keeps gaining in the UK

Autore: FXStreet.com

FXstreet.com (Barcelona) - With inflation being among the top concerns for the Bank of England, the release of October's Consumer Price Index is crucial for the UK economy. According to the information released by National Statistics, the current monthly CPI ticked slightly up at 0.3% and on the annual comparison at 3.2%, while Core CPI stay unchanged at 2.7%.

Inflation remains high, and as the BoE warned, when the VAT hike is implemented, that will put even more inflationary pressure on the economy. Markets anticipated the failure to pull back as forecasts for the YOY CPI and core CPI mimicked last month's readings at 3.1% and 2.7 respectively. Expectations in terms of the month-over-month CPI stood at an 0.2% rise as opposed to the previous reading of 0.0%.
